Clinical Trials
Clinical trials offer opportunities to advance medical knowledge and discover new treatments as well as new ways to detect, diagnose, and reduce the risk of disease. They demonstrate whether a new therapy or treatment works well and is safe and if particular treatments or strategies work best for a certain illness or group of people.
Physicians and patients need to discuss the benefits of participating in clinical trials as part of a treatment plan. This can help alleviate the patient’s common fears and misunderstanding about clinical trials.
