Arthritis
People living with the burden of arthritis find themselves not only suffering from loss of mobility, but also a decreasing quality of life. Fortunately there are programs available in our community that can help decrease pain and disability, while also improving the lives of those impacted by arthritis.
The mission of the Arthritis Program is to reach those affected by arthritis and improve their lives through education and public health interventions, while also engaging those at risk for this disease.
Strategies of the Arthritis Program include:
- Monitoring the burden of arthritis
- Embed arthritis-appropriate evidence-based interventions into organizations capable of creating and maintaining sustainable programs.
- Fostering partnerships among state and local delivery systems to reduce the burden of arthritis, while increasing access to evidence-based interventions.
- Increasing awareness of the impact of arthritis on our nation’s health and well-being; this includes economic well-being as well as impact on common co-morbidities.
- Strengthening the public health science base to guide arthritis-related intervention strategies, while evaluating the effectiveness of these activities.
