What are community gardens?

Community gardens are shared open spaces where participants all take part in maintaining the garden and sharing its produce.

Community gardens provide opportunities to:

  • Eat fresh fruits and vegetables.
  • Engage in physical activity, skill building, and creating green space.
  • Beautify vacant lots.
  • Revitalize communities.
  • Revive and beautify public parks.
  • Create green rooftops.
  • Improve social well-being and strengthen social connections.
