Federally Qualified Health Centers

  • Federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) deliver health care to people of all ages and families in underserved urban and rural communities, regardless of income.
  • FQHCs are funded under the federal Public Health Service Act to provide comprehensive health care, including well-visit checkups, treatment when sick, pre-natal care, immunizations, dental care, prescription drugs, and mental health and substance abuse services.
  • Payment is based on a sliding fee scale.
  • Individuals and families without health insurance or those with Medicare or Medicaid also may receive care.
  • More than 200 FQHC sites in cities and rural areas of Pennsylvania, in 44 of our 67 counties, are providing care for nearly 700,000 Pennsylvanians.
