Tobacco-Free Parks
Tobacco-free parks help limit exposure to secondhand smoke and
influence community norms toward smoke-free living. Tobacco-free policies help
to protect the health of all community members, especially youth.
Young Lungs at Play
Young Lungs at Play helps communities create
tobacco-free parks, playgrounds, and recreational areas for children. More than
760 Pennsylvania communities and youth organizations have adopted tobacco-free
policies since 2010. See the
Pennsylvania Honor Roll of tobacco free parks and playgrounds.
Implement tobacco-free parks and playgrounds in
your community in three steps:
- Adopt an ordinance, policy or resolution making public
areas where children play 100% tobacco-free
- Apply to participate in Young Lungs at Play
- After your policy is approved or passed, receive free
12"x18" Young Lungs at Play metal signs to place in your
tobacco-free areas.
