Project Goal

To increase the knowledge, abilities and skills of Community Health Workers in communities across Pennsylvania.

Promotional Methods

This is a workforce development program. Applicants are invited to attend an orientation session. Upon completion of the orientation, qualified applicants are invited to enroll in the program.

Project Challenges

Temple continues to seek data on ROI to demonstrate the value and cost-savings of CHWs. The stronger the ROI, the less employers will depend on external funding to employ CHWs.

Project Results

Temple University has trained over 150 CHWs. Placement rate (in the field is 60-70%). Community Health Workers help accomplish all areas of the “triple aim”: improved population health, better patient experiences, and reduced per capita cost.
